Toothache Remedies
Toothache can be an agonizing problem, which is often caused due to bad dental care and hygiene. Some other causes for toothaches are pregnancy, wisdom teeth, gum problems, blockage in nasal passage etc.
Most of us have experienced toothache at some point of our life and most of us have heard of at least one remedy for this problem from our mothers. There are a number of highly effective remedies for toothache that you can try at home.
Let’s discuss these remedies in detail:
1. Ice pack: Place an ice pack on the cheek near the aching tooth. Ice will help relieve the pain by soothing the nerves around the tooth and reducing the inflammation.
2. Garlic: Take small piece garlic and crush it a little to get its juice out. Now, add some rock salt to the garlic and place it on the aching tooth. Garlic has allicin, a natural antibiotic that will kill the bacteria in the mouth and help relieve pain.
3. Stop smoking: If you are a smoker, then the toothache might be because of the tooth decay caused by smoking. So, quit smoking for at least as long as you have the toothache. Quitting the habit forever will help you safeguard your teeth for future too.
4. Cloves: Clove is a dry spice commonly used in Asian cooking. It has antiseptic properties, which prevents infection and septic from occurring in the decayed tooth. When placed near between teeth, it releases oil that helps cure toothache. Therefore, if you have teeth problems, then chewing few cloves a day can really help you cure or at least manage them.
5. Black pepper: Black pepper is truly the wonder drug for teeth. When used regularly, it can help prevent toothaches, cavities, bad breath, and bleeding gums. Add few drops of clove oil in a pinch of black pepper and put it on your effected teeth. You will definitely notice a reduction in inflammation and pain.
6. Asafetida: This is another spice, mainly used in Indian cooking. Besides cooking, it is being used for centuries to cure various ailments and aches. Heat half a tablespoon of asafetida powder in a pan and add few drops of lemon juice to make a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area, after it cools down.
7. Tea bags: Put a tea bag in hot water to heat it. Place the heated tea bag over you tooth, until it cools down. You can repeat this few times, until the pain subsides.
8. Mouth wash: Sometimes, food particles stuck in our teeth or dental cavities can also cause toothache. A thorough wash with a good mouth was can be helpful in relieving the pain too. You can use a solution of warm water and salt as a mouth wash for best results.
Toothache is a common problem and in most cases, it is cured once the reason of the ache is eliminated. To avoid toothache, just make sure that you take good dental care and stay away from sweets and other foods which are bad for our teeth.
