At some point in our day to day life, we all feel stressed. Though, it is a part of our life, but stress can really make one ineffective in what they are doing. The definition of stress usually varies, but it can simply be defined as trauma, either emotional or physical, that is brought about by our failure to deal with pressure and difficulties that we face in life.

Work burnout a major reason for stress. Medical conditions can result in stress too. Family problems, day to day life problems and many extra ordinary situations can cause stress in our life.

Some of the symptoms of stress include:
• Lack of concentration,
• Tension,
• Headaches
• Increased heartbeats.
• Anger
• Poor appetite
• Increased alcohol intake,
• Absence or lack of good sleep,
• Migraines

Remedies For Stress

There are certain measures that one can take to deal with stress. The following are some home remedies you can use to deal with stress:

1. Workout: Exercise is important. It lets you take your mind off the problems as you indulge in other activities. Yoga and meditation are good forms of exercise for a stressed person.

2. Holy Basil: Taking some Holy Basil leaves boiled in water is effective in dealing with stress. It is recommended that you boil up to 25 leaves of the Basil plant in half liter of water.

3. Healthy Diet: A healthy diet is important and thus, it is advisable that you avoid the intake of foods rich in oil and junk foods. It is recommended that one includes lots of vegetables and fruits in their diet. Other foods that are good to take include beans, soybeans, eggs and whole wheat grains.

4. Avoid Alcohol: Avoid or reduce consumption of alcohol as it is known to be a stress factor.

5. Ginger: A mixture of ginger with milk or water massaged on the forehead helps to relieve stress.

6. Herbal cures: Other herbs that are effective in managing stress include the Bishop’s weeds which are placed on the hands and sniffed. There are the betel leaves which after washing are placed on the forehead for some time.

The above remedies have been proven to be effective in treating stress.
